Hey everyone, Thanks for the help and responses! Jeremy, your key looks great. Did you have jaggies at first, and then soften the edges? Apparently the post house has come up with a fix, but I don’t know what it is yet. Check out the Jaggies. I did this in FCP, but the post guys were using AE and had the same result.
Softening the edges helps alot, but I’m know it shouldn’t look so “jaggy” in the first place.

Try keying it. That’s when the problems arise. Looks way worse than other HVX keys I’ve done.

Yeah, I agree. It looks OK to the eye. It’s when you try to key it that the crazy jaggies become apparent. That’s what’s so confusing. I’ve done simple keys in FCP with HVX footage before (for preview purposes only) and it looks nice and clean around the edges, but this clip is a mess! Love to hear your thoughts, if you’re able to try a key.

The files are reading what they should: DVCPRO HD, 960X720, 23.98, etc. Bitrate is 5.9mbps. A 6 second test clip is about 35MB which by my math sounds right. It just doesn’t add up. The picture has all the qualities of a low rez jpeg. We just reimported a test file from the MXF and it’s the same. Very puzzling.
