I just tried this again. There are two checkable options within the locate clip dialogue box. The first is check box is called “Matched Name and Reel Only” and is immediately to the drop down selection of the {Show:Video Files} menu option. The second is “Reconnect All Files in Relative Path”. I have tried clicking and unclicking both of these options to no avail.
I’ve also since realized that it doesn’t say {“*” missing}. It says {” missing}. If that helps at all.
thanks

I was sworn to not give out the direct contact info… BUT there is good news!
A P2 card formatted in the camera and NOT overwritten can have magical pixie dust sprinkled on it and be reformatted to retrieve the lost content.
My advice though… DON’T ERASE THE P2 CARDS BEFORE YOU BACK IT UP!!!

shoot… I was afraid of that obviously.
Thanks Shane.
So I’ve done a few searches for just such a department in Panasonic.
does anyone know where to contact one in California? I’m in Northern California but I would imagine I’m going to need to send this off to LA or something?

Ahh I think it would be fun though to come up wit a unique way of asking for the digital capture to start. words like capture, digatize, even energize are all fun but not quite right.
Energize like ion star trek is close, do they say anything in Tron?
Yes a rediculous question not a dire problem but it’d still be fun to coin a term together that further differentiates (ie makes us better than) tape based shooters.

I found a program called iSquint which converts the codec for fcp.

I’d like to go on record that the back focus on my HPX500 is a constant issue as well. I’d don’t take the lens off in between shoots and never use the macro. The screw is tight.
I hadn’t read or heard anything publicly that lead me to believe that this was a widespread issue but hey after the 5600k problem…
I wonder if there are others who have this issue?
I’ll say this though the lcd and the viewfinder are NOT to be used for critical focus or color.
I have a Panasonic 17″lcd and a Marshal component 7″ lcd I use for focus and color and exposure. I just used for the first time this last weekend the Panasonic 8″ lcd with the focus pixel in red feature. It is AMAZINGLY helpful! I wish Panasonic had given the HPX500 the feature internally. But I guess we may not buy as many monitors then…
If anyone is considering a monitor for this camera, GET ONE WITH THIS FEATURE and just consider it the actual professionally equipped price of the camera.

The focus histogram is the single most useless feature on the camera. It only works when the subject and the camera isn’t moving…at all. Life doesn’t hold still. Yes bowls of fruit at NAB displays hold still and the histogram looks like a great idea. But I have no idea why Panasonic didn’t put the HVX200’s focus tool in the 500. The focus histogram is a pointless feature.

Is this simply because you’re trying to safe gaurd against data loss or because having the P2 volumes and the QT clips on the same drive is somehow dangerous to the clips?
thanks

Hi Shane,
Sorry to go back to the well here but I’m stuck again. I updated the fX pluggin on my mac and everything works great on my tower. a client of mine has a macbookpro and has been having problems with the exact same P2 volumes. He has updated the plugin except his log and transfer window produces a spinning beach ball of death when he selects a clip to add to the transfer que.
are there any other known reasons for this?
