OK admittedly I didn’t manage the media very well over the past 4 months of this ongoing project. the clips are dispersed and moved around between many different hard drives. but such is life. I should be able to go in and reconnect media. However I’m having a problem with a few directories which say they are offline and then when I go to reconnect media the window says the clip “*” is missing… it doesn’t know which clip to look for. This is strange because in the bin the clip name is still present and its in the clip properties as well. I can even reconnect the clip manually using the locate button. But it won’t batch reconnect and it won’t reconnect clips in the same bin automatically. Is there a fix???

    thanks,

    chris

Have you tried ONE clip at a time as a test and turning off the (paraphrased) ‘match clip name to source’ check box and force it to reconnect?

I just tried this again. There are two checkable options within the locate clip dialogue box. The first is check box is called “Matched Name and Reel Only” and is immediately to the drop down selection of the {Show:Video Files} menu option. The second is “Reconnect All Files in Relative Path”. I have tried clicking and unclicking both of these options to no avail.

I’ve also since realized that it doesn’t say {“*” missing}. It says {” missing}. If that helps at all.

    thanks

RIght, now you have to physically select the clip that you are trying to reconnect to. Does that work?

    yes.

i can actually reconnect the clips one at a time if I use the “locate” option rather than the “search” option inside the Reconnect Media Tool. But I have 500+ clips…

I’ve uploaded 3 pics in sequence to describe my problem.

    thanks

    Hmmmm.

One thing I have noticed is that the drive is earching for has a point in it – i.e. “2.7-TB Internal:DNA_SCRATCH”

That might be throwing the system as points usually represent a flie extension (as in clip.mov). Is it only reconnecting with this drive that you get the problems?

What version of FCP are you running? I think this issue was handled with an update…we had this one too. Now we don’t.

    [Chris Baldwin] “6.0.5 on 10.4.11”

Chris, what drive is connected the the project that you are trying to reconnect? Is the project from the “2.7” drive?
