This happened to me, and Ned Soltz as well, a couple of times in FCP 4.0. It appeared to have gone away with 4.5. I certainly hope it hasn’t resurfaced again in 5.0. The only solution is to recapture the missing clips.

Michael,
I know you’re trying to help, but I think you’ve got your terms confused, if that’s possible. Under RT, I have two choices, “Safe & Unlimited.” I have Safe selected. Under Playback Quality, I have 4 choices, Dynamic. High, Medium & Low. I have it set to Dynamic. I cannot choose one instead of the other. In any case, this only affects unrendered material. The problems most of us are having with graphics, stills and motion, is after rendering. So far the only thing that works for me for rendered effects is “Fastest” under the Motion Filter Quality settings. Setting Field Dominance to “None” only results in stroby, or un-smooth motion. I’m not trying to be difficult. I’ve been using FCP since the day it was released, and this has been the most confusing thing I think I have run across since then. Too many choices & unnessesarily complicated.

It’s on Safe RT AND Dynamic. It’s not either or. Dynamic was supposed to be a big deal. Are you saying that it doesn’t work?

Playback video quality is set to Dynamic, but that shouldn’t affect rendered material. Record to Tape is set at Full Quality. If I set Field Dominance to “None”, then any stills with motion and transitions are stroby.

If I set the field dominance to None and Motion Filter Quality to Best, the stills and graphics look fabulous, but transitions are stroby. The only combination that looks reasonably good for both is with Field dominance set to lower and Motion Filter Quality set to Fastest.

I’ll try disconnect my DSR20, although it’s never caused a problem in the past. It’s just a stock G5, running Tiger. I know it has nothing to do with the OS or Quicktime, because it works in FCP4 on the same system. I’ve reported the problem to Apple. Thanks for your interest, Jerry.

I reset my password. I used the same password, but just the act of doing so did the trick. Go figure!

Can anybody confirm this? Has anyone tried it?

I am the administrator and also the only account. My password works for everything else except this. I don’t understand how Keychain works, but I noticed that” System” is locked, so I unlocked it and my password still wasn’t recognized by Windows Sharing.

That’s exactly what I’m trying to do. It won’t accept my password. I checked the Apple Discussion Forum and counted four other people with the same problem, but no replies. It has nothing to do with my windows machine. My Mac will not let me enable my account in the Sharing panel, because it says that the password I’m entering is wrong. I’ve tried many times. The password works for logging on, so why shouldn’t it work for enabling my sharing account?
