    Eric,

I have the same Pioneer drive and a MacPro running Snow Leopard. I have no problems burning Blu-Rays with Toast 10. I’m using the drive in an external enclosure. I would check with Roxio to see if there is an issue with Toast 11. Have you done the updates? They have an owners forum on the Roxio website. Check that out as well.

I don’t know if this relates to your problem, but when recently updated FXFactory to the latest version, it gave me a message that it was not compatible with my graphics card. I have an NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT.

Thanks for the suggestion, Steve. After powering-up this morning, I looked in the Kernal Log and could find nothing relating to Ethernet listed. After re-booting the machine, I looked at the new log, and saw this:

    Jan 16 08:49:39 localhost kernel[0]: AppleIntel8254XEthernet: Ethernet address 00:17:f2:03:db:33
    Jan 16 08:49:39 localhost kernel[0]: AppleIntel8254XEthernet: Ethernet address 00:17:f2:03:db:34

So, the only difference in the two logs is that the log from when I first booted up the machine today is missing these two lines, and there is no message or indication as to why.

Blu-Ray data discs are apparently subject to the same formatting issues as hard drives. I have a client who works in the Windows realm, and every time I send him a Blu-Ray with EX files that exceed 4gb, he cannot see those files. I still haven’t found anything that works. Even doing an ISO 9660 disc won’t work.

One thing to definitely watch out for when looking for deals is discs labeled LTH (stands for low-to-high).
These are manufactured using a short-cut method. This may not cause problems for data discs, but I can confirm that video discs will have compatibility issues with some players.

They give a voltage readout in the viewfinder.

    Bob,

    Check out lacolorShop.com
They have larger versions of the BP batteries. I have the smaller of the two models, and I get way longer run-times than the Sony BP-U60. It has a PowerTap connector for your light as well.

You have a choice between Component or Composite or SDI. You’ll need an RCA to BNC adaptors for either Component or Composite connections. You also have the choice of sending out a 16:9 image or a cropped 4:3. Are you renting the camera? If so, make sure they give you the cable that connects to the mini jack on the camera.

I believe the maximum capacity of a 25gb BD-R disc is 23.28 GB. I think if you encode at around 25 mbps average, you should be fine. Be sure to use AC3 (Dolby) audio.
