    I need to capture VHS.

    I have FCP7.

    I have a DSR11 Deck

    I have rca cables.

    I have a firewire deck.

I can capture DVCAM tapes fine via firewire.
The outputs on the VCR are fine and work.
I can record the VHS to DVCAM fine.

My FCP Settings are set to non-controllable device and DV NTSC 48k

My scratch disc is a firewire 800 drive.

I cannot seem to get the video to passthrough. all the parts are working, but not the whole…

    Thanks for your help!

Theres just like, 400 tapes here, and that will basically double the time. I think I will just capture right into the machine and make dvds where appropriate!

    But thanks for the advice!!!

With 400 tapes to capture, I think what I would do is buy a tunerless DVD recorder for less than a hundred bucks, dub the VHS over to DVD-R’s, then use the DVD’s as archive and edit source, converting them to work on my FCP-7 timeline with Squared-5’s mpeg streamclip free utility, or use (shivers) FCP-X. The DVD’s will import really fast, and you can be editing while the DVD recorder is capturing next door.
