Don’t rule out the MxR adaptor as the culprit. On a shoot last week, I gave my 2nd shooter a blank Transcend card to put in his own Hoodman adaptor, and he immediately got a “Restore Media” message. He powered the camera on & off, and even re-seated the card, with the same result. I took the card out and put in in one of my own MxR adaptors and, no message. It worked fine for the rest of the day. The is the second time this has happened with this shooter. My guess is that it has something to do with the adaptor, not the card.

I would say that the only way you can use Multiclip would be to convert everything to a common format, such as ProRes.

When I bought mine about 2 yrs. ago, the seller was offering two different models. The one I bought was a little more money, and I believe he said it was a bit heavier build. The difference you will see in the pictures is that the better one has a larger chest pad. There is no way my camera is falling to the floor unless I drop the whole rig myself. I don’t even use the strap.

The one I have, which I bought on E-Bay for about $45 including shipping, is identical to the one Philip demonstrates, although it carries a different name. It is made in India or China, I believe, but all those E-Bay adds appear to be the same unit. I found a seller in the U.S., but I can’t remember who it was. Don’t let the price scare you. It is a very solid unit, and a steal, compared to the other types out there.

I have a quick-release adaptor on my shoulder-support, monopod and tripod, and can quickly move between all three.

If that bothers you, I have a slightly used DVTEC DV Junior Rig for sale, which uses the spring-loaded rod method.

There is a brightness adjustment in the menu settings. You might check that out. (Page 104 in the EX-1 manual)

You need FCP 6 or above to get the codec.

You might want to consider burning to a dual-layer DVD.
