Thanks everyone. I guess it’s been a while since I captured tape. It seemed slower then usual but it works fine when played back.

    Thanks, Steve.
But does that install the plug in needed to ingest the media within FCP using “log and transfer”. I thought there was a specific plug in.

    Hi Darren,

I was able to get P2CMS to work on Snow by downgrading it back to version 1.2.7

I would think it was that however it doesn’t sound like the internal mic…it’s totally out of sync. And like I mentioned, it sounds fine with ch1 left and ch2 right on my other machine with an older version of P2CMS and Leopard.

Is there maybe an audio track playback setting I’m missing?

    Thanks,
    Chris

I figured it out. Though it is not that obvious.

I needed to go to the “Tool” menu. Click the “Setting Metadata” Tab and change the “Number of Displaying” which I guess defaults to 100 clips.

I wish that was more clear because with these larger cards it’s easy to pass 100 clips.

    Thanks everyone for your feedback.
Purchased the camera last week and just finished my first project in the field and it performed great. It was much more user friendly in the field. It handled better in lower light then the HVX200. The LCD seemed better and the waveform was great to use. The controls I think are in better positions as well.
I still wish it had better audio control like the Sony. For example, choosing auto levels for each channel and db pad adjustments. But you can’t have it all for that price.

I was thinking about selling my HVX200 but I might just keep them both.

    Thanks again,
    Chris

    Thanks, Tom.

I usually rent when I need a better camera. But I found myself using my 200 and Sony Z1 more frequently the past few years. Especially for travel. Did you notice an improvement with the LCD? What I liked best about my Sony Z1 was the LCD was pretty good for run & gun work.
Because of this, I usually only use the 200 for tripod interviews and green screen. But it was difficult without really using a monitor.

Yes, Steve. The 370 is a great camera. I rented it and was impressed with it.
I just was thinking that selling my 200 would probably pay for half of what the 170 is going for so it wouldn’t be a big expense.
Has the 170’s LCD improved since the original 200? Is it similar to the 370?

    Thanks,
    Chris

    Hi Shane,

Yes, that is it. If you look at the download link, they list towards the bottom “The following devices are supported by P2 driver packages”.
This list is what I see during the install process with each one having a selection box to choose the device. Asking me which P2 device driver do I want to install on the PC so it can read the P2 Media from it.

This wasn’t a problem for me since my system would be reading the P2 cards so I chose the “Cardbus”driver which then asked for me to load a P2 card in the pci slot of the laptop to finish the install. I also selected the “HVX200” which then asked for me to link the camera via USB to finish the install.
Now, my client won’t have these devices, they just want to use P2CMS to just load media.

    Thanks again,
    Chris

    Thanks Shane,

I guess my confusion is when you install the driver, it displays a list of devices that you can select to choose as the device you are installing.
If you choose say “PC Cardbus”,you need a P2 card in the slot. If you Choose “HVX200” you need the camera connected.
But In my case, I don’t want to install any device because the client will not have one. Just the media on a hard drive.
Does it still allow me to install drivers without selecting a device?
I haven’t tried that but it didn’t seem to give that option.

    Thanks,
    Chris
