Capturing tape appears slow

I recently did a clean install of both Snow and the latest FCP.
This is the first time I am capturing a DV tape since and it appears slow in the preview.
When I play back a clip in the browser, it plays ok.

Any ideas?

That’s normal. It never plays full fps in the preview.

Right. FC never have played the full fps on capturing.
That takes resources from the system and may jeopardize the capturing on a limited computer.

If you get yourself a broadcast monitor it will play smooth on that one while capturing. But it’s really not an issue anyways.

Thanks everyone. I guess it’s been a while since I captured tape. It seemed slower then usual but it works fine when played back.
