[Chris Frantz] “I guess what I’m looking for ultimately is a way of setting Roles/Subroles in the finder. It would be the equivalent of patching tracks at the finder level,”
Understood. I think you’d need some mechanism to add metadata to the file (like wav files have) and X would need to turn that into Roles. Way beyond my pay grade. lol

[Chris Frantz] “The only thing missing is setting video roles.”
I considered that. But as there is only 1 video Role, it’s sort of easier to set it in the X browser. R-O-M would give all clips the same video role, which you may not want. You could set different video Roles in the browser if you needed to before you export fcpxml for Role-O-Matic to set common audio Roles. Then new event will have everything you need. 🙂

Are there any free applications to do this? I only saw ones online that cost money. I imagine the answer is there is nothing free to do this, but I figured I’d ask this forum first.”
Try Resolve lite. fcp 7 xml to Resolve to fcpxml. Dunno how well it works…

Make sure the Censor effect tab in the inspector tab is selected/activated. If it’s not, the OSC won’t be shown.

[Walter Soyka] “I have suggested to Simon that a native Ae version would be most welcome”
It works great in AE, but does require FxFactory.
