[Bob Zelin] “You know that I am a huge fan of LumaForge, although this product will not do AVID bin locking, required by most
    AVID facilities.”

I’ll have to defer to Sam, but I believe they have implemented Bin Locking just recently via some sort of voodoo. 🙂

[Herb Sevush] “Can’t seem to do it with the effects that come with premiere, but can definitely do it with third party VST plug-ins. This company makes a batch of free audio plug-ins as a come on to get you to purchase their larger set of plug ins”

The fact that one needs to rely on 3rd parties to get this type of function in an NLE is so unprofessional!

    I’m KIDDING! 🙂

Thanks for the link Herb, nice set of freebies and a nice addition to Pr. 🙂

[Bill Davis] “It’s official then. Elon Musk is nothing more than a crass copycat because Oxcarts had wheels in the 13th century.”

You can do better than that cheap straw man comeback Bill. Use facts. And while you’re at it, google “Observational Selection.” 🙂

    [Rikki Blow] “any suggestions?”

Make a copy of the Library in the Finder. Open the Library package and delete the _Sync_ file. Open the Library and see if that helps…

  • Media and Libraries should be on Separate drives if possible. It’ll work fine if not, but X is constantly reading and writing to the Library, so having Media (and cache) on a different drive is ideal and you may get better performance. So adding a 3’rd (fast) Drive for cache couldn’t hurt.

Like Jeremy said, if your Project is rendering to the same format as the export, X will use the cache files when it writes the master, speeding things up. If you export at a different format than the project is set, it has to do it from scratch.

  • [Mark Raudonis] “Oh well. The minute you buy something from Apple it’s already EOL.”

The minute you buy anything from anybody it’s Obsolete/EOL. You really think they won’t replace it with… something?

[Andrew Kimery] “X was no where near good enough on day one to change the trajectory of my whole professional practice, but as you say YMMV.”

X on day one was good enough to make me buy a fresh copy of Media Composer and Dive into Premiere. lol I couldn’t do a thing with it (besides try to figure it out) until 7toX, EDL X, and X2Pro appeared. Thing is, I’m glad It worked out that way. I definitely have a favorite, but the more tools I can use the, uh merrier? 🙂
