    LOL!
I was at that supermeet in Lost Wages -and while I did enjoy it and FCPX looks promising, my jaw wasnt dropping, so wish Larry could update his blog to say the sound of 1699 jaws dropping…

That being said I’ll be the first one going through his essential training on Lynda.com which am wondering how long anyone thinks that will take to happen? or will he put that training on a private website?

I edit on almost an identical system to you, and Motion runs at about 6fps, then often crashes. So Im going to bit the bullet and get a 3.4 i7 w/ 16gbram and a 2gb card so hopefully can run motion in the 20fps range.

The article in that link is from 2004, and the best Ive read on this topic anywhere. Article has convinced me to buy the sandy bridge 3.4 i7 w a 2 GB card, and eventually go to 12GB of RAM.
Amazing how fast the specs have changed in seven years, but info is still valid.

“Frankly, Qmaster (which provides all of these clustering and remote submission capabilities) has always been a little screwy…”

    More like a nightmare.
80% of the time my compressor crashes at 67% of the file.
