    Hi Trent,
Are you able to run software on the computer to capture screen display to disk, or do you need to take a VGA video feed (like a monitor/projector) and capture that? Mac or PC?

Thanks Jeremy, I had read that thread AND Ron’s South Sudan field test. It’s probably what prompted me to test under controlled conditions (with zero consequences). It just seems that a number of HM-100 users (me included) have had their bacon saved by the “repair” function built in to the JVC SDHC cameras. You just put the card back in, the camera warns that the clip needs repair and if you agree to the prompt – it fixes (finalises) the clip. I don’t know how much ‘damage’ can be treated this way, but in my case where I changed chips in a hurry and didn’t wait for the ‘all-clear’ light, it was a perfect fix.

I have just bought a Hall Research scan converter/switcher to partner with my Ki Pro. I can now record PC or Mac screen video from VGA or HDMI/DVI (or even legacy VHS in CV or S-Video). PowerPoint slides look beautiful in 720p, and not too bad even in SD (if the presentation is bound for web distribution I think SD is good enough and a 250 gig storage module will happily swallow a whole day’s presentations).

    Happy Camper,

    Charles.

It seems that neither company admits to the other’s existence, but no matter. The Hall Research version seems to offer more output resolution options than the Atlona admits to, so for pure versatility I will probably go with them…
    Thanks,

While I realize it may be a bit late now, I have been looking at the same setup for seminars here in Australia… found this

    Any thoughts from the herd?

    Hi Guys,
I am running FC 6.06 on a quad core MacPro with 8 gig of RAM. I recently installed snow leopard (which has caused a few QTKITSERVER issues) but otherwise it’s clean. My best guess is that the client did indeed drag copy the files to a dual layer dvd (maybe even a couple of times given the number of hands it passed through until I received it).
Even so – a simple mov file transfer seems a lot cleaner.

Hi Michael, Yeah – no battery in the Rode, plugged straight into JVC works great. Have you maybe tried other cables?

    Hi Guys, something fishy here.
I use a pair of Rode NTG-2 with my Tascam FireOne with no AA batteries fitted – not a problem with phantom turned on.
Just to make sure I came home and ran up the HM100 – again no problem. Have you checked the switches on the audio panel on the mic bracket? (sorry if this is a dumb question)

    Chas.

PS: Man, the Rode sounds soooo much better than the supplied JVC shotgun.
