  • Hey Matt, will hire the 2.5K camera for my upcoming shoot then will wait and see as to which camera I’ll buy later.

    Cheers

If Blackmagic give us 50p then they really are going to be full on game changers. What I really like is the way that they’re looking at innovation and cost point to completely change the production landscape. Exciting times to be in the industry!

  • Marco,

Thanks for the feedback and the links to your excellent comparison videos, they really gave me an in depth understanding of the camera’s strengths and uses. Now convinced that this is the camera to hire for my up and coming project. The only quandary now is do I buy the existing camera or wait for the new 4K camera? One thing is for certain and that’s Blackmagic Design are seriously shaking up the camera market at the moment, I wonder how the other manufacturers are going to respond?

  • Thanks for the info. I see the Blackmagic has some limitations with rolling shutter? Anything else to be aware of that comes to mind.

    Cheers

You’ll have no issues with your monitors. They’re all made to play anywhere and except different power.

Nice blog Gabe. Glad to see you’re enjoying the FS100, we’ve had 2 for a couple of years now and we’re constantly amazed at images we get from them. Try getting your hands on some older M42 lenses (Jupiter 9, Carl Zeiss Jena), some are real corkers, dirt cheap and beautiful images.

We’ve just spent 2 months with the 5D III and Nikon D800 shooting documentary stuff around southern Africa, both cameras were awesome, both had there weaknesses. The D800 has a slight moire issue, the 5D seems to do too much in camera correcting, leaving the image a little plasticky. If I had to make a head on the block decision between the two then it would be the D800… then again the 5D does have excellent low light capabilities.

I don’t see any problem with it? A little moire on the weave but all else seems great. Did you upload the footage that came directly out of the camera? I always find the footage from directly from the camera looks juttery but once rendered from the NLE that goes away.

  • We’ve used Camtasia to record full HD screen capture, no problem.
