    Hi Todd,

Yes, all the software is up to date.

When Render Multiple Frames Simultaneously is turned off, render starts no problem but obviously is quite slow….

OpenGL is enabled if necessary in AE’s Previews Preferences.

Disk Cash is checked with a Maximum Disk Cache size value of 200000 MB.

Also, I’ve unchecked “Disable layer cache” in the Secret Preferences.

    Hope that helps?

Hi Alex and thank you for your reply.

It doesn’t even start rendering. After effects just freezes and then crashes. I have tried different settings but same result.

I am rendering a feature I have just finished grading with Colour Finesse.

Rendering settings are QT Uncompressed 1080p @ 23.976fps.

    Thanks for your suggestions…

  • Thank you very much Todd but now it is also doing it on After Effects when I’m using OpenGL Interractive. As soon as I scroll through te timeline, the screen goes black and comes back again… what could it be?

    Thanks again.

    Hi Adrian,

I’ve been working for a while on a PC worstation, very often receiving Mac-originated QT files either for editing or VFX. I of course use MacDrive to download them. Even though it is true I can’t read them with QT for PC, I can put them on either Premiere Pro or After Effects’ timeline mo problem at all and work on them. I deal almost everyday with people on Macs, and so far, no problem whatsoever. I am runnibg Windows 7 x64, 2x Xeon 5680 @ 3.33 ghtz, 64 GB RAM, 16 TB Hard drives @ 15000 rpm and Nvidia Quadro FX 5800.

    Best,

    Hi Jeremy,

Just wondering why Avid and Final Cut are the industry standards for features…

Thanks Danny, you’re a star!I believe you’re in the States… what a pity! I think I would definitely benefit from working with experienced people… I love my job as a VFX artist but as always, experience is the key to success!

Thanks again for all your tips and have a nice day!

December 5, 2010 at 11:15 am in reply to: PAL Blu-Ray settings

Thank you Danny for this precision… however, it is all getting very confusing… My source footage is 4k QT uncompressed, progressive @ 25fps Dolby Surround 5.1.

I thought blu-ray was progressive anyway weither it is PAL or NTSC(is it not?). So if I convert my source to 23.976 fps progressive, won’t I get a slight shift image/sound?

I am working on a Windows 7×64 based workstation with the Adobe Master collection CS5.

To make it even easier I have the same source to output to DVD both PAL and NTSC. Would the same principle apply?

Sorry again to bother you and thanks in advance for your answer.

    Best,

    Charles

March 18, 2010 at 9:03 pm in reply to: 3D camera animation matching foreground

Thank you very much Dave for your answer. However, what kind of lossless codec would you recommand knowing that it’s acquisition codec is mpeg (PAL upper first and 25fps)?

    Thanks again

That’s the problem, not only the shot is shaky but the camera also moves. Thanks for your answer. If you have other ideas, don’t hesitate!

August 10, 2009 at 12:05 am in reply to: After effects and Nucleo pro settings

Thanks a lot Scott for your reply.

So, what you’re saying is that other than batch rendering while still be abble to work with AE, Nucleo pro is not much use… So, lets drop Nucleo Pro! What settings would you actually apply on AE with the computer I have? (ie : what HD for the Media and Disk Cache? What settings for Memory and Multiprocessing? Knowing that I work with HD and I just need enough RAM for Outlook 2007 to run while rendering.)

Thanks in advance, I hope you can help me on this one…
