The Sequence is DV/DVCRPO NTSC. I don’t remember what the item properties for the clips was. Any idea why I can’t round-trip a project from FCP 6 to FCE 4, even with an XML? Is it that FCE does not have XML import abilities?

This doesn’t make sense to me. The media I am using came from FCE. I did not change the sequence settings.

It is DVCPRO25. The project files came to me originally from FCE 4 and I opened and (re-saved as a different project) in FCP 6.0.3. My client tells me they can’t open either the project I worked on and saved in FCP 6.0.3 but also the XML export I created as a backup.

I’m starting to see enclosures (like the G-tech G-SPEED eS) that come with 4 drives instead of 5 but they say they support Raid-5. Unfortunately the G-SPEED eS is only PCIe but I was wondering if there would be a big performance hit with 4 drives in RAID-5 instead of 5 drives in RAID-5?

Any thoughts on the MacGurus’ BurlyBox enclosures? So far I have only used Seagate and Maxtor 7200rpm drives as media drives. I’ve read about some people now using Hitachi drives. How do the Hitachi drives compare in terms of reliability?

Both are nice options. I wonder if I should look into purchasing the enclosure separate from the drives. I don’t recall where, but somewhere I found a hardware raid-5 enclosure that had eSata, Firewire 800 and Firewire 400 interfaces and was portable. I think it was a 5 drive enclosure.
So if I have this right, a 5 drive enclosure configured as a raid-5 will allow me to continue working if just 1 drive fails? Am I correct in assuming with a raid-5 that I lose the storage capacity of 1 (out of the 5 drives) to parity?

Does DigiBeta handle 4 channels of audio in 16bits or 24 bits?

Thanks! So DVCAM mastering only handles 12-bit at 4 channels? What formats in SD accept 16-bit at 4 channels?
Just so I get this right.. a Sony DSR-45A deck will record 4 channels of audio at 12 bits, but not 16 bits, correct?
