Yeah not a fair test. Each build of a 3rd party plugin is made differently for each application.

It’s good to know looks doesn’t work great in fcpx yet, but a better test would be something like a codec render like Marc said.

I’d love to know the results

I STRONGLY suggest to only edit with the real audio that was recorded, not the scratch. It will be a nightmare to sync after the fact.

To do this it’s easy. Mark in on the audio file and the video file on the common mark of the slate. Select them both in the browser (command select them) and go to MODIFY MERGE CLIPS.

This will make a new clip that will append the new clean audio to your video source.

I would suggest doing a traditional offline/online workflow if disc space is very limited. I would edit with ProRes Proxy and then finish it with regular old 422 Pro Res. In order to do this properly you first need to make disc images of the cards and use the E1 plugin from canon to do the transcoding to add proper timecode that FCP understands.

I have the full workflow outlined here if you want more information:

    and

    I hope this helps.

If you are uploading to Youtube, even if your source is DV – you still SHOULD upres to 720 even if you do it with software. The youtube version will turn out much sharper at all sizes.

    Just an FYI.

Make sure your frame controls tab setting is off in compressor as well.

The source was 30fps and I had the setting set to do same as source. I’m going to try again to force set it at 30fps in the new setting and see if that makes a difference.

I had that issue a few years back on Final Cut Studio 1. I did a clean re-install of the suite and then compressor worked fine.

Thanks for all the advice. I have a decklink extreme with sdi – if i go forward with this project I think I’ll invest in this one:

Sony J-30SDI Compact Betacam Series Player

I’ve only ever used the 2000 series ones before, but figure this is probably just simplified.
