Working in R12.5.1 Studio with some DV footage that is part of a 1080i sequence. When I change the field dominance of the clip it has no change. Motion in the shot appears to have the fields reversed. It is my understanding that DV is Lower Field dominant and HD 59.94i is Upper Field dominant. Seems to make things more complicated.

The De-Interlace box is greyed out.

I am able to view the footage in FCPX with proper field interpolation in an HD 1080i timeline. How can I get R12 Studio to work with these files properly?

Yeah maybe just start over and only import the files you need and trash the library that is problematic.

Dean You should really try the AJA t-tap for your live gigs. I find it to work much better than The ultra studio mini in my setup when running FCPX. Back when it did work that is.

It would be nice to not have to crawl under the desk to plug in the mini every time I want to use Resolve but that does not look like it’s going to happen soon

Are you running those I/O devices over Thunderbolt or USB?

    Thanks

Thanks Francois. What BMD I/O are you running? Do you experience any playback issues like lagging or sticking frames?

  • Got the T-Tap and just finished up a show in FCPX. When running T-Tap there is a HUGE difference in performance when in FCPX. Works like butter. No more stuttering playback and does not crash multiple times a day. A much better solution for FCPX than BMD. I can’t get the BMD box to work in FCPX at all now. I wonder if the UltraStudio 4K Extreme has the same issue?

As far as the software for the T-Tap I find it has more features than BMD and it is pretty enough for me 🙂

Also AJA has real support if you have any issues. A real plus in a professional environment.

Thinking of pulling the trigger on a 55 810c. However that one does not have Triluminos. Do you use that feature? Thinking that would not be REC 709?

Eric what model of XBR are you using?

Also wondering how the 4K monitors handle interlacing. Need to see bad/incorrect field order.

    Thanks

  • Thanks Bret. Got a t tap on ebay over the weekend and will give it a go once received.

You may want to check the speed of your media drives to see if they are fast enough to playback that file. You can use bmd drive test to check them
