BMD UltraStudio Mini Monitor no output with FCPX
Posted by Chad Smith on August 22, 2016 at 4:40 pmHave tried installing various drivers going back to 10.4.1 as mentioned in the BMD forum. However this driver is not doing the trick here nor is the latest build. The UltraStudio Mini Monitor is able to output when using Resolve, PP, AE but not FCPX 10.2.3.
Does this issue persist with the UltraStudio 4k Extreme?

August 22, 2016 at 4:49 pmThanks Francois. What BMD I/O are you running? Do you experience any playback issues like lagging or sticking frames?

August 22, 2016 at 4:56 pmIt is an old “Intensity Extreme”, I am mostly using the HDMI output … and everything is great except when Skimming, I use a Matrox MXO2 for SDI output and it is also working fine.

Me too with my Ultrastudio Express… I use this unit to play content out to Giant Video Screens at major events, using content assembled in FCP X…
You can imagine how much fun it was to be playing content in front of thousands of people to then see X crash on playback…. or even when you play content through a broadcast monitor to one of your clients…
Yet again, Blackmagic needs to sharpen up with their product support and bug fixes.

August 23, 2016 at 3:18 amDean You should really try the AJA t-tap for your live gigs. I find it to work much better than The ultra studio mini in my setup when running FCPX. Back when it did work that is.
It would be nice to not have to crawl under the desk to plug in the mini every time I want to use Resolve but that does not look like it’s going to happen soon
