Hi Tim – thanks for the reply. Yes both clips are highlighted in blue, both are the same fps and codec is ProRes. Selecting both clips in list view. Tried restarting x , however no change. Tried right click and file menu but still greyed out. Hmm.

Dwaine – Try this link for a very exciting clip of my ipod showing TC generated from the Movie Slate app that was feeding the camera the LTC !

Hi Dwaine – Yes I do have a small clip I could send. What is the best way to get the file to you?

    Thanks!!

When I try this in 10.0.8 I get a video transition. Is there another way that is quick to add dissolve to audio to get rid of clicks?

Bret – Thanks so much for the heads up on the 2 graphics cards no go. Pulled the GT120 this morning and things are much better.

March 16, 2013 at 4:27 pm in reply to: Odd FCPX behavior > I’m stuck

I too am seeing odd behavior in FCPX 10.0.7 OSX 10.8.3 early 2009 mac pro Dual Quad 2.26 14gb ram nVidia GT120 and flashed nVidia GTX285 BMD HD Extreme 3 and 2 lcd Cinema displays.

If I am working in X and an email comes in and switch over to mail. (or any other app. PS etc) Respond to the client then go back to X, the event window does not come back up on my second monitor and X becomes unresponsive and have to quit and relaunch to continue working. Sometimes when I cut a new clip into the timeline I have to click on the timeline 6 or 8 times to get X to play the content in the timeline and not the source clip. Background rendering is off. I found this would not happen if I had the “show event window” open.

X also does not seem to like my BMD HD Extreme 3 card (it is not the newer 3D version) It runs smoother without feeding my external monitors. I pulled the BMD card and X seemed to run much better. Anyone else experience this?

Perhaps the only fix for this is getting an ATI graphics card? Then pull that card when I run a color session in Resolve? Seems kinda crazy. Thoughts?

Hey Margus – So I guess I would not see any improvement with RED footage in Resolve if I upgraded my GTX285 to a GTX 570 2.5 gig? – Thanks

What kind of frame rates did you end up getting with this card running resolve with the RED footage. Were you able to run on the “half res good” setting? Do you run FCPX at all?

March 9, 2013 at 12:25 am in reply to: NVidia GeForce GTX 285 Sluggish Performance

I too am running a GTX 285 and am getting odd performance with FCPX 10.0.7 and OSX 10.8.2 Early 2009 4.1 14gigs of ram.

Any of you folks running Resolve on you machines as well? I use the 285 for a render card w/Resolve and a GT120 for GUI. When I click out of FCPX to check email and come back, half the time I cannot get it to work at all and have to quit out. This happens with either card hooked up to the monitors. Perhaps I need to buy an ATI card for the video editing and pull the card and dump the 285 back in when I go to Resolve?

Does anyone have luck with the more recent nVidia cards like the 5xx or 6xx series?

    Thanks
