  • Hey Shane!
Anyway, Matt, you can use MacCaption to get your CC info. However, if you want to get CC encoded on your MPEG2, it will not happen without higher end software, and better yet hardware encoders. This is the current plight of digital delivery with MPEG2 and CC…If you don’t want to spend more money, forget Episode – forget everything. Retaining CC while encoding MPEG2 takes very expensive solutions. I’ve been over these solutions with CPC, Telestream, Digital Rapids (which we currently use), Amberfin, EVERYONE….If you don’t want to make a big investment for this service, you should call our facility – we can do this for you at a reasonable cost. If not, expect to spend some dough for a very niche workflow. CC and file delivery are very complicated to say the least.

We have internal RAID’s from 6TB to 8TB with ONLY Hitachi 2TB drives in our MacPro’s. They are absolutely rocking uncompressed HD unlike products from Seagate and Western Digital that are crap these days. Pop two or three 2TB Hitachi drives inside a WELL FUNCTIONING new MacPro, RAID them together, and you’ll be amazed at the read/write speeds and reliability…

  • The log & transfer window size follows the last size setting of your canvas. I bet your canvas is set to something like 33%, that’s why the log & transfer window is that small. Before opening log & transfer, set your canvas size to fit to window or %100 and your log & transfer window should open up in the larger (normal) size.

Oh I see. Cowdog will respond to David, but not me – he still hasn’t addressed my post in this forum from April 21st that was pretty much “all about him.” Because I gathered that Cowdog believes it really is “all about him.”
    Woof gives Cowdog?

Do you have ALL your renders checked – needs, preview, full, unlimited, etc. under the render all option?

    Thanks Jeff!
I had no idea about these Mac drive maintenance programs, but then again we all succumb to inadequate google searching from time to time. I will definitely check them out. Thanks again for your input. It helped me through Bob Zelin’s deafening silence 🙂 I’m on Bob’s blacklist already!

Erase and Re-RAID is what we have been doing and understand is the only option it seems for this type of work. Thank you Jordan and Fred for your input.

Hmmmm….Blackmagic Design now makes a portable version of their Ultrascope as one example. I’m trying to figure out how to narrow down what was “liked” for you considering there were around 2000 companies represented doing everything from cell phone cameras to 4K acquisition.

HD broadcast in 1080 is 1920×1080. 1440×1080 is the 1080 frame size for HDV ONLY. Unless you are working off of an HDV NLE timeline, avoid that frame size. Let me know what programs you are using to A) create slides and B) create video.
With the exception of DVCPRO HD, all HD video is SQUARE pixel. I would suggest creating all image files in square pixel 1920×1080 (e.g. with Photoshop). If your boss is complaining that the images look stretched on the HD monitor, it is probably because you have non-square image content (e.g. NTSC PAR) or some other setting is wrong. Provide more information about the programs you are using and what the totality of the presentation is and we can assist you further.
