  • The easiest way is with a pluggin called Ouruboris, I have it and use it quite often in projects. It’s a surprisingly good and well created pluggin.

To be frank 8GB of RAM really isn’t enough to run AE fully. There’s barely any space in your memory to buffer those frames you’re trying to view.
But go into settings and try to change your RAM settings to allow AE to access more of it, that should help with your frame buffering, but… again… you need more RAM.

As for the crashing of the side bar, I will say since the update I’ve been having loads of issues with the new version of AE on my PC (I use a Mac for mobile editing and a PC for office editing, runs fine on my Mac).

Unfortunately it doesn’t work because the parent layer is a comp, and AE still hasn’t corrected their set matte with comp issue.

p.s. I’ve sent you an invite on LinkedIn. I’d love to connect if you’re in the area! I’m about to move into a new place in the Germantown area.

Thanks for the recommendations! Typically I would. I forgot to mention above the reason I’m doing it this way is I’m trying to streamline the template so that I can easily replace this one layer as I’ll be making about 40 scenes from this one template. So easily replacing this file with other images is important

I definitely will be running a test, just curious what the best method to do so would be. So you think I should just use a board and mocha?

Thanks Tim, and you’re right I should have specified more.

They are looking for cloud based storage. Right now all of their footage is sitting in hard drives in their desk, and they want a digital copy online.
I agree with you on the bottleneck situations, but they don’t do a LOT of video projects, so I think once we get the initial files backed up, continuing to keep files on the cloud will be workable. Plus their offices have a (surprisingly) fast upload speed.

I am looking into Amazon cloud storage, but they have large budgets so would like to present a few bigger budget options specifically for videographers and production.

    Thanks again!

That, sir, was precisely what I was missing. Thank you so much!

  • Thanks Dave, I’ve ended up individually exporting the screen-capture footage as new 24.976 files for the first lesson. This is working, but triples my render times for the remainder of the project (15 more lessons) :-/ It’s a ‘last resort’ option and I’m still hoping I can find something that doesn’t involve rendering wholly new files.

This is very helpful to me.
Is there any updated documentation you would recommend with the new AE release?

    Thank you!

Well, sir, I have two questions: Where did you learn all this, and where are your tutorial videos, cause I’d watch that in a heartbeat.

    Thank you, very unique solutions.
