    Ah…

    So simple…

I think I’ve always selected the project.

But only when the fcpbundle gets huge and creates hard drive problems.

Which means past project files were “still in there”!

    MUCH APPRECIATED!

    Cheers!

    Aloha e Devrim,

    OMG! That’s it!

    900GB of rendered files, etc.

I deleted them all and my template project is intact!

    Question:

These files must have accumulated from multiple past projects.

How is it when I Delete Generated Clips they weren’t deleted?

    Thanks so much!

    Appreciated!

    Hi Craig,

    Again, thanks.

In experimenting on my MacBook with moving FCPX data, I noticed that I could create a new Library, move projects, events, and media to it…

    BUT…

… unless I also copied over the CurrentVersion.flexolibrary file, there was no access to the moved projects.

So I’m contemplating creating a new Library, then copying (in case it doesn’t work) everything from the corrupt Library, and see if that NEW.fcpbundle will open.

Just dowloaded Memory Clean and tried it out on my MacBook. Looks good. Will do the same on my MacPro after unused files transfer (see below).

On the MacPro, how much free space beyond the 1 TB dedicated to the film?

    Not sure…

But worried that space might be an issue, I found a huge amount of “back up” media that I could move to another multi TB drive. That transfer is currently underway.

So, I will soon have at least 2.5 TB free on the drive with the 1 TB film files. Fingers crossed this has something to do with it.

Again, thanks so much. Really appeciated.

    Mahalo nui loa!

  • Craig,

    Mahalo nui loa.

    Will follow your suggestions.

Currently freeing up as much space as I can on the HD hosting the problem library. The transfer will take a while!

Trying to figure out how to successfully move bad Library contents to a new Library… without opening FCPX. As each scene is a project, I figure there’s got to be some way to move the projects, then reassemble them in a new library (that works).

    Thanks so much.

    Truly appreciated.

    Aloha from Honolulu,

  • For what it’s worth…

    Tried opening another backup.

Everything (i.e., projects within the library) seemed to read fine until FCPX starting reading the MOVIE.fcpbundle

    At that point, FCPX crashed.

Think I need to figure out how to import all my projects into a new master file.

    Thanks again.

  • Weird, some of my replies post, others don’t.

Just tried opening my oldest back-up for the Library that crashes FCPX.

    It… crashed FCPX.

This is so strange: everything was working fine yesterday.

Just closed out of FCPX to do something else.

When I went back to open the Library again… it crashed FCPX… and has done so repeatedly…

    If I’d done something… anything… I’d have a place to start… but i didn’t do anything!

    Ugh…

    Thanks again.

    APPRECIATED.

  • Hi Craig,

    Thanks again.

(Weird, my earlier reply, from my laptop, didn’t post…)

Tried opening the oldest back-up file I had for the project.

    Didn’t work. Crashed FCPX again.

    At my wit’s end here…

    Thanks again.

  • Hello again,

    Many thanks…

Tried opening a backup project… backup from a few days ago didn’t work…

Just selected the oldest back-up I’ve got… it seems to be working, but is taking a long time reading the “bundle”… a looooong time…

    Fingers crossed…

(Tried opening by complete duplicate on another hard drive: no go, same problem as original project.)

    Thanks again.

    Really appreciated…

    Hi Craig,

Thanks so much. Contemplating suicide here: 2 years editing work is currently inaccessible.

Just uninstalled and reinstalled FCPX, so running the latest.

I found the back-up file. Tried opening one from a few days ago, when I know there was absolutely no issue.

    No go.

I’ve been wondering if the project got to a size tipping point: it’s at about 1 TB now.

So your suggestion about consolidation caught my attention…

Can I consolidate if I can’t open the library?

If I can, could you point to me to where I might learn about efficient consolidation?

    Many, many thanks.

My blade is sharpened, but I’ve not slit my own throat just yet…

    : )

    Thanks!
