  • AU Eval Bug in FCPX since Ventura 13.3.1 update

Since updating to Ventura 13.3.1 I can’t launch FCPX. When it tries, it hangs up during evaluating AU plugins. Sometimes it finally crashes, sometimes it just hangs forever, requiring a force quit.

No new plugins have been added in quite some time, and everything ran fine before the 13.3.1 update.

Has anyone else seen this? Any solutions? Unlike LPX, FCPX doesn’t allow you to temporarily disable AU plugins.

    Same problem.

Most of the recent crashes and hangs are related specifically to the discontinued Accusonus ERA audio plugins. This video from Matthew O’Brien explains the process of making sure you find all the pertinent files to remove the plugins and fix the situation.

Found the solution. I had recently installed Screens 4. Uninstalled it, and everything is now fine. But yes, there is an AU Validation issue. Mine hung up on various different AudioUnits, including Apple’s own SoundIsolation AU. I really don’t think it’s specific AUs, it’s something buggy in Ventura 13.3.1.

P.S. I also found I had to remove the recently installed Screens4 app before FCP started working again.
