Seven years and this ‘not-feature’ is still making me lose amount of time. Is there any free solution? Has it been solved in new versions? (I am using CS6)

    Thanks!

[Michael Szalapski] ” If you just want to cut part of the shape out, use shape groups and merge path features in the shape layer tools.”

Ah… I’m not used to that but now I think I understand what you want to explain. I think you mean use more shapes as they were masks substracting or adding with the merge path. Is it?

I’ll take a look. Thank you!

Hi François. Thx for the reply.

Unfortunately the downgrade is not an option. Too painful. I cannot touch too much of hardware either. I have to stick with Premiere which I hate so much 🙁

    Greetings

May 28, 2016 at 11:20 am in reply to: Greetings, From the Vegas Team

Neal Barlow has a good point in his analisys. I’m not the most active forum user precisely but I use Vegas from the time when it was an audio editor only. These last years I saw that Vegas was only a tool to support the new Sony video formats and the tiny annoying things that needed to be adressed were left behind.

Things so tiny like going directly to the folder where the main project is saved when you are going to render instead of going to the folder you saved last project. It’s a small thing but annoying. And like this there are a lot more that doesn’t make sense, heritage from the very old versions. Real productivity was not a priority. Well, at least not according to what Sony understands ‘productivity’. The multiple timelines, the cursor doing weird things…

I’m always skeptical when a good piece of software is bought. I saw that with discreet Combustion. A software that was left dying of its own age and whose last versions where merely two plugins more than the previous. Vegas is one of the best editors and can be the best. The team now behind of development is great but it has an enormous task. I hope they can delivery what editors need: the old Vegas Philosophy that Sonic Foundry had before Sony acquired the products.

I encourage you to do it.

Thank you very much for that communication.

    Hi Mike. Thanks for answering.

Was this behaviour always like this? I think I remember dragging entire clips only by clicking on the video event.

I find it kind of annoying having to repeat the same action twice. I thought I had accidentally turned on some option for this.

    Cheers.

Understood. Everything is working as intended now. Thanks for your useful guide!

OOoook! Now it is clear! If you read the post I linked it is all about start points in the expression (not end points)and then talked about copiing the script to another layer (not the beam end point) that is being used to represent the End Point of the Beam. It wasn’t understandable to me.

I don’t want to do such complicated thing as the video and maybe I’ll animate five or six nodes so this thechnique will do the trick.

I did it like you explained and it seems to work. What I still don’t get is the “composite on original” checkbox. Since I have six nodes linked as a circle chain I don’t know which layers have to have it checked.

Great! Thanks for your help, John!

I’ve been waiting for years (literally)for this thing to be adressed. For me it is one of these annoying things that nobody remember to post about because there are ‘more important’ things to do. But it really pisses me off when I have a lot of little projects and I have to switch from one to another.

Thanks for all the feedback and letting me know that I’m not either alone or crazy.

Walter, I will sure use your link to send Adobe this request. Let’s see what they have to say.

By the way, the example that Cassius has explained reflects almost perfectly how often you begin a project and almost without realizing they can become a puzzle and this feature would help a lot.

March 6, 2013 at 7:32 pm in reply to: Color Banding while decoding MJPEG

[John Rofrano] “Since Vegas Pro has it’s own M-JPEG decoder, what if you capture with Morgan and then turn Morgan off in it’s little control panel and let Vegas Pro use it’s own M-JPEG decoder?”

I tried that before all the mess and Vegas didn’t recognize the clips saying that “there was a problem with the codec”. Maybe because it was encoded with a 32bit version? Anyway I’ll try again as now only have Morgan.

    ==============================

    Finally good news!

The flicker was gone when turning off GPU acceleration. Now it seems that I have a working workflow with Vegas!

Anyway I tried disabling the codec and Vegas didn’t recognize the clip as expected. “problem with codec”.

Now I wonder if the color banding with PicVideo was because of the same… Don’t worry, I won’t touch a thing now 😀

It’s been hard… Thank you again, John!
