You did not get it. Lets put this example: I come to my laptop with a 40GB set of clips made on Focus FS-4HD. I do not know what is it inside till I screen the whole material. If I am lucky I might get some seconds on each segment of 2GB on which the HDD segments the 3 hours. I need to load this material on FCP to screen it to clean it up. FCP does not read m2t files from a HDD so I have to convert it to any of the readable formats for FCP. My question is: Is Apple intermediate codec good enough to keep the quality of the material?

The reason is simple, when you do wildlife you get 80 to 90% garbage, you can´t keep that garbage in HDD without making a big confusion and occupying large portions of the discs that are useless. On the other hand there are many situations on which you frame, iluminate, set parameters and pull the trigger of the FS-4HD and when you come back 3 or 4 hours later you might get a few seconds of a hummingbird that made your day, normally a couple of minutes in the middle of 3 hours footage. It has to be cleaned up.

1-Apple FCP uncompressed video
2-Apple Pro Res 422
I plan, as I did in Vegas to clean and keep the footage in uncompressed files to avoid artifacts.

I got m2t files on Focus FS-4HD drives recorded from Canon XLH1. I try to load on FCP (I am a novice on MAC) and although the files are shown they can neither play back not loaded on the project.

Finally after some trials and restarts I got rid of the SATA II blocking and FCP opened and I assigned the internal drive to get started with the software. This proves, as you stated that the problem is the driver of the card. So I have two things to test now: one is to try with another SATA II card like SATA ON THE GO from SONNET, the Sales Manages told me it will work with the system, the other one is to get a Galaxy Firewire enclosure and put in there my seagates.(https://www.shop4tech.com/item6035.html. The GRAID2 uses Hitachi drives that I do not like, I read reviews and know about friends with damaged HDDs.
Any advise about the latter?

I can´t make FCT start, it hangs (fades) at mid load depending on the drive I put in it, so I can not make the test with the system drive.I do not find what preferences to erase either.
Would you mind to take a phone call from me to talk about the issue. I do not think that by this way I can get to a conclusion soon. I´d like your opinion of some other solutions like Firewire 800 raid enclosures such as the Galaxy. I can put in ther my Seagates Sata II drives and forget about the LaCie enclosures.

I can take the card out of the slot (I already did it) but when trying to open FCP it does the same rutine, tries to open and then fades.
How can I tell FCP to search for other drives, the main one in the laptop or a firewire or a USB, I have plenty of them connected.

Well, I cleaned as recommended in Apple support, installed again FCP, downloaded the siliconimage3132r5 driver, installed it and the problem persists. After loading some features of FCP it stops loading and fades. I gess this means reinstalling the OS.
A question: Installing the OS should not affect the windows partition. Am I right? I am backing up everything, anyway
