Hard answer? — it’s up to you and how well you shot it.

Yup — that’ll do it.

You might be able to fix this with Modify – Timecode. Find a matched frame to the tape and set the timecode in FCP to match it. Then under the clip properties label the tape it came from and you’ll be good to recapture if needed down the road.

Looked at the specs and I couldn’t find it, but does that camera allow for video to come in via RCA or S-video?

From Hi8 to DV you’ll need some sort of converter box… any DV camera would do that has the ability to pass thru. Most do. If you can record something INTO the dv camera via an RCA cable type input then you should be fine. OR, you’ll need to buy a 250US dollar box like something from canapus… I forget the name of it… do a google.
