I had a similar problem with the mic on my old/louder camera. I too wanted to keep the mic on the camera, so i bought a camcorder bracket off of B&H. I put the link below. I still use it with my dvx100, but as a stabilizer rather. I have it sticking out the left side of the camera (if you had the camera pointed at the subject), but you should know that it’s just barely not long enough to open up the LCD screne. A great stabilizer none the less though!

    Possible Answer to question #5:

Were you wearing headphones while you were recording as well? It may be possible that you were wearing very efficient headphones (earbuds tend to be pretty efficient), meaning that you wouldn’t have to increase the volume that much on your camera in order for you to listen to the audio at a comfortable level. This MAY have resulted in your computer playing back the tape at its ACTUAL low level, when in fact you were hearing it at a reasonable level through your camera’s headphones. I hope this makes sense to you, and good luck with getting answers for those other questions!

If you’re really in a bind, you might try attaching a portable DVD player to it. I have no idea if that will work or not, but since the camera can output to a TV, why not.

So, let’s just say that I wanted to try out some panasonic-brand tapes (to see the difference in quality), is ok to use the same company, but use different quality tapes within that company?
