There are a few ways to do this, but all involve outside scripting or varying degrees. The YouTube API is pretty well developed these days.

We’ve been contacted by a few folks but no one’s really put a PO out for it yet.

If you don’t need the metadata to change each time, it’s relatively easy using Python. If you need the metadata sent with it, there’s a bit more work to do and you might do it using php.

It can be done, and the HiDefCowboy crew has looked into it It’s just a matter of time and desire and how far you want the script to go with uploading metadata etc.

If you have in-house scripters/coders, look at some of the Python resources out there. If not and you need help, contact your reseller or us and I’m sure you can get it sorted.

Hey man, been out on vacation (yes!) and just saw this.

CatDV can link to the proxy video and use the hi res audio by default, but I don’t like to do it because you have to have the XDCAM codecs loaded to use the proxy.

I tend to just make proxy so that anyone can view them, but in 9, if you want to link to the XDCAM proxy, there’s a setting and I’ve used it.

There is an Apple Quicktime issue that affects CatDV Pro and Worker, in my experience. (there’s a kbase article that I can’t find right now.)

It looks like Apple has broken this. I have found that using Compressor to make the proxies works, which is strange. But I’ve gotten a few clients able to use web proxies with this workaround.

I’m off to my Honeymoon! I hope you guys all fare well out there while I’m enjoying a little rest.

I’m betting you’re running out of RAM. I’m not sure anything is “broken”.

A lot of folks dispute this, but I never advise that folks use CatDV to “scan” a drive.

You’d never drop 70,000 assets into FCP at once, for instance.

I advise that my clients import them in by folder, organizing them into catalogs as they go… managing assets, as the term says.

The hardest part of any asset management project is when we realize how much work there is to do before the software kicks in.

I’ll bet if you do it a folder at a time, following the best practices for catalog size laid out on this forum, you’ll get better results.

Could you give us an idea of the file count on that drive?

I’d be curious to know and see if we’re just overloading the app.

I don’t think it does that, unless someone here’s got a way to reverse selections in sequences. (I’m continually amazed at all that’s built in to the app.)

But I’m pretty sure it could totally be done in a shell script.

Under the “Media” menu, choose “Build Thumbnails” that will let you delete and choose to make new ones.

NOTE! If you have lots of thumbnails, you will make your catalogs bigger… and slower to open, etc.

As I see it, you might be able to set up the markers to do this.

Take the category and make it the person speaking.

Use the description for the text.

The marker will have the TC already. Export the info via XML and you could restyle it as an excel sheet.

    Would that work?
