Journalling is only recommended for system (OS boot drive) drives. Media drives for FCP SHOULD NOT be journaled.

I haven’t done this and don’t have an available PowerPoint Presentation to test this, but doesn’t KeyNote 2 in iWork import PowerPoint? It probably losses the transitions but so what if you are going to edit it in FCP. This is a $79 conversion solution and you get Pages.

Once imported into Keynote you render it out to a QuickTime movie–.mov–and import the movie in FCP.

One of the complaints about M100 editing was an audio pop sometimes at edit points.

An advantage of FCP is the you can change levels with keyframes within one frame or 1/30 of a sec. I use this technique to clean up audio pops–cause by ambient background noise, breaths or the producer stepping on the interviwee’s response–without changing the in and out point of the whole V1,A1,A2 clip.

Are you editing on the Sequence Timeline or in the Viewer?

Double click your clip to put it in the Viewer and then drag the audio tab to the Sequence Timeline window. You should then have an editable audio waveform the length of your Timeline Sequence window. You can zoom in to any level and still be able to see a lot more of your audio than you would in the Viewer. It will not increase the default height that you see in the Viewer, but you should have more information than just editing in your program sequence track height.

When you are done just CTRL+click (contextual menu) the tab and select Close.

Are you telling me if you CTRL+click over an item let’s say in the Tracks column your don’t get a contextual menu?

Give me a day, I have my PowerBook packed away in my briefcase. I’ll fire it up to show the EXACT methodology.

Unless I am hallucinating, I remember correcting captures, let’s say A1+A2, by deleting previously captured media–clip icon with a red line through it–and CTRL+click the audio track column and selecting A1 for only the raw interview channel since there was nothing but ambient noise on A2.
