I use to have a ADVC100 on a 1.42Ghz Dual Processor G4 and had no issues other than switching the silver button when going Analog to Digital to capture and Digital to Analog to moniter the sequence timeline.

I don’t remember having to do this but there is a setting for uncontrollable firewire device in the audio/video settings.

Sorry I don’t have a ADVC110 here to troubleshoot this with you.

Have you tried posting this frozen ADVC110 output from FCP sequence timeline in the Canopus forum?

Does the timeline play in Print to Tape?

I use to work for Louisiana Public Broadcasting and a lot of British programming finds its way to PBS stations. I think I have seen all the “Doctor Who” episodes at least three times. And then there is “Good Neighbors”, “Fawlty Towers”, “Blake’s 7” (Servalan is the hottest woman I have ever seen) and of course “Red Drawf”

I always leave the background preference setting in Photoshop to transparent or the little grey and white checked background. That way I know what is transparent.

You need select the negative area around your logo/graphic perhaps with Magic Wand. The default sensitivity of 32 is usually fine. You will probably need to invert it depending on your selection preferences and then put the selection–the marching ants–in the Alpha channel under the Channel tab. There will be a little circle icon of marching ants–your selection–at the bottom or the Channels tab and you click on that.

Save your graphic as a .PCT (PICT) or .PNG file as a 32 bit image file meaning R 8-bit, G 8-bit, B 8-bit and Alpha (8-bit). Alpha is you hole cutter in FCP.

You could also save mulitple layers in a .PSD file and import into FCP as a layered sequence. You could do a search of all posts recent and archives with my name as author–Bryce OR Bryce Whiteside–and Photoshop as a search term.

Duel Systems – ExpressCard isn’t even listed as a developer. Supposedly they have a ExpressCard to PCMCIA adapter in the “pipeline”.

The FCP 5 Universal Binaries will be available around March 31, 2006, but Apple will probably announce FCP 6 at NAB in April 2006 one month later?

When would FCP 6 probably ship?

P2 use the PCMCIA format which was used in the old PowerBooks.

Now you don’t have a FireWire 800 port or a PCMCIA slot.

Many people here put their setup in their signature so people that view your post will have an idea where to start to give you help.

What are your timeline settings? Is the ADVC110 just for viewing in a external NTSC monitor?

Even though you have multiple firewire ports–800 Mbps and 400 Mbps–on a G5, they are all on the same port and will default to the slowest firewire device which would be the ADVC110–400 Mbps.

Seperate firewire bus would require an add-in firewire card.
