Thanks guys, this helps a ton. I probably will export uncompressed and try the Toast version. It’s awesome to finally get some information on the Blu-Ray workflow out of Final Cut though. Appreciate the quick responses!

Wow, I loved Color, though it could have a few tweaks in a few areas, but as a whole I got some really nice stuff out of it and I really enjoyed working with it. I hope Color isn’t disappearing, that would make me a little sad.

  • Well, I just quickly threw together a psd and it imported as a comp with the layers… So seemingly it would just be this file. It’s fairly complex but I wouldn’t think that that would matter…Attached is a few images

    1) The completed painting
    2) The layer structure in PSD

Anything look odd as to why it wouldn’t work?

    Thanks.

So after reading everyone’s thoughts let me throw another kink into the question. I am a VFX artist studying at the Art Institute of Colorado running a dual platform Mac/PC workflow. Without forking over the $70 or so for the Calibrated Quicktime Converter codec would anyone recommend the ProRes codec for me? I will be using 3D matchmoving programs (Autodesk Matchmover 2010/PFTrack 5.3), Autodesk Maya, and The Foundry Nuke or Apple Shake for compositing. What workflow would you recommend for me at just the importing stage off of the P2 cards of a Panasonic HVX200A? I appreciate your time and responses. Have a good night.
