  • Nigel & Scott,

I have Vegas Pro 14, build 201. My GPU is Nvidia GeForce GTX 680, driver update: 12/1/2016, driver version: 21.21.13.7619

I’m running Windows 10 Pro, keeping up with the latest updates.

    I hope this helps.

    Regards,

    Bruce

  • Scott, four years ago, I built a screamer of a PC in hopes of faster renderings. At the time, I thought that the latest and greatest video card (Nvidia GeForce GTX 680) with a great number of CUDA’s would do the trick. But, those CUDA’s were of no use because either the driver and/or Sony Vegas Pro 12 didn’t have the right coding to work together.

But, just this past month, I received an update from Nvidia and voila, I know have a working GPU with all its CUDA’s to handle faster renders.

So, my point is either wait in hopes your card will get an update or purchase a newer GPU card that probably costs much more that does currently have their act together which Vegas Pro can incorporate the GPU’s driver to get those faster renders.

If you do change your GPU to a card that does work it’s magic, let us know here in this forum so others will know that your potential new card works.

I’ve been able to get some information on Magix’s slide show program, and it beats others hands down. Yes, you can put video along side stills and fx’s (fads, etc) work great. Magix’s program has a lot more advantages too. The output to DVD, Blu ray come great. But, there is a benefit to using Vegas Pro when it comes to manipulating the music track/s. More manual work in Vegas Pro, but you be the judge. Magix offers a trial period and I recommend trying it before deciding on any program you’ll use in the end.

John, unfortunately, ProShow Gold won’t let you place your video clip on the still shot timeline. On the finished DVD menu are separate menu buttons, one for video, another for your stills. When you click, to play the video clip, there’s a blank screen, then continues (video or still). You can’t make a transition from video to still shot, like you can with Vegas Pro.

ProShow Gold is effective if you’re looking for a way of creating a still slide show with many stills. There are a lot of transition effects, narration, placement of your music, you can’t beat Vegas Pro for higher quality output. But, that means more manual work involved.

If you do decide to use ProShow Gold, let us know your impression so others can have more insight to better decide which might work for them.

    Good luck

  • Paul, chances are your record player doesn’t have an amplifier within the record player. So, there’d be no “push” of what you’d want to send to your PC.

Here’s a link to anything/everything you’d want to know on how to connect your record player to your computer.

As for recording software, Audacity is your best (free) choice. Audacity is a simple program which will do what you want to do and more. There’s plenty of tutorials on YouTube to get you going. Once you do one or two recordings with Audacity, you’ll be on your own and enjoy the program.

Let us know how this worked out for you.

  • For those who have been left out of the loop in terms of not being included in e-mails from Magix (registered Sony Vegas Pro users), let Magix know you’re not included as a Vegas Pro user and have not received promotions. I’ve contacted Magix about this issue because those who have not received the promotion for version 14 might not get the word and miss out on the promotion, as it ends July 31st. I hope Magix will extend this promotion for those who’ve missed this opportunity.

Even though I’ve added my e-mail address to Magix’s e-mail notification weeks ago, I have yet to receive any notice about the version 14 promotion. I’m sure there are many others who have been left out.

  • Diane, from what I’ve found, all you’d need is a $10.00 (ebay) firewire card (pci). The Windows 8 Legacy driver should work. Here’s the Microsoft link for it and instructions to install it…..

Ron, click this link. When playing back 4K use ONLY this https://potplayer.daum.net/ software, or another of you choice that does play back 4K as Vegas Pro DOES NOT have the codec to playback 4K.

  • I just received an e-mail reply from Magix based on the e-mail (you can read the e-mail Isent in my other post) I sent Magix.

The head of Public Relations sent me enough info to say they are excited to be associated with Vegas Pro. He also provided the name of the actual owner of Vegas Pro, but there’s no need to post that here.

I did mention, again, that Magix needs to continually read posts here in this forum to get familiar with what we, the users of Vegas Pro, want answers to and take into consideration on what we want in the software that isn’t in currently. I also asked that Magix not only read but post comments and answers in this forum.

This post does not imply that we all have to send messages to Magix to get answers right now, but hopefully, Magix reads this forum and they post comments.

  • I have sent an e-mail/message to the Director of Communications for Magix. Below is the message sent……

    Hello Mr. Brock,

As a long time Vegas Pro user, I am thrilled that Vegas Pro has been “resurrected.”

I am a member of Creative Cow Sony Vegas Pro forum ( https://forums.creativecow.net/sonyvegas?age=3 ) and for the past year or so, we users have been left in the dark over the future of this software. It’s a shame that Sony didn’t have the courtesy to inform its Vegas Pro users of a change in ownership. In fact, if you go into the forum and search the past history of user’s frustration with Sony’s support of the software with its users, it might be a relief that Sony has abandoned Vegas Pro.

I DO hope Magix will take into account, the current and future Vegas Pro users, and support us with answers to questions that Sony would not.

Also, having your support team monitor the above forum would benefit you and us users to keep “goodwill” and make the users of this software informed of questions and problems.

    Regards,

    Bruce Brent
