    One man band or full orchestra, repeating client or brand new client – doesn’t matter for me, I always get 1/2 down payment before starting or completing the work.

    As long as you have their tax number on file (I prefer to also have a copy of their tax exempt certificate) you do not charge sales tax.

    I worked for about a same sized company (Fortune 700) for a few years that did exactly the same thing. Even though we made it perfectly clear to AVPs, VPs, Senior VPs, etc. that it was illegal, it didn’t seem to matter. So our philosophy was:
