Good to know, thanks Chris. I actually bought Izzy’s course and I’ll check back with him and also look at the Lynda offering too. At my advanced age I don’t anticipate changing video editing software yet again so it would be good to avoid lots of fumbling around this time.

Thanks for the thoughts Nicolas. I’ll do some more research and reading.

Whoops, sorry, I just realised that special offer from Adobe was TWO years ago. Time flies when you think you’re having fun!

Many thanks for the reply James – that’s really good to know!

Maybe I’ve been wasting my time introducing the 1080p to 720p step? I thought I’d read somewhere that it was the way to go but from what you say I think I’ll drop it in the future irrespective of which editing software I’m using. I wonder what percentage of scaling it would be sort of safe to go up to when zooming without losing too much discernible resolution – any thoughts?

I really will try out the free trial as soon as I finish the current projects. I actually bought a complete training course for FCPX a good year ago and then decided to take advantage of the Premiere Pro special offer that was available last year. It seems FCPX will handle my needs – do you know if there is somewhere I can read about the limitations? It’s just that I remember last year there was a certain amount of unhappiness with perceived missing functionality.

    Thanks again for your time.

I don’t seem to have any problems with my DVDs when I simply ignore this message. At this stage I don’t really understand it. The DVD player I use doesn’t have anything actually marked “Title”. Maybe I need to read up a bit more about what the feature does.

    Thanks for the replies!

    Hi Bob,

I was just wondering – did upgrading resolve the problem..? It’s just that I have it on a current CS6 project (never seen it before) and although I’m not worried about it I’d like to see it go away. Thanks in advance.

  • I seem to have resolved my problem by splitting the four multicam video clips over three drives: two of them on a USB3 Caldigit AV, one on a WD USB3 drive and one on the Thunderbolt drive. The two USB3 connections for my MacBook Pro are through a Caldigit Express card.

It’s still not 100% smooth but it’s tolerable and certainly MUCH better than having all four clips on one drive of any description.

  • After another week of usage I’m less enthusiastic about it. For some reason I’m getting a lot of stutters in the multicam window. I don’t know what’s happened but I’m now looking for something portable and much faster.

  • Just in case anybody stumbles over this post with a similar need in mind, I went ahead, bought the drive and I’ve just finished a two hour, four AVCHD camcorder multi-cam project with all footage and the project file in the same directory. At the same time I had to quickly upgrade to CS6 – but that’s another story.

This tiny, lightweight drive was everything I wanted it to be with NO performance issues. I’m very happy with it and I’m lugging around a lot less in my backpack.

  • I must be missing something deep here but what’s wrong with cursor key right to go to the next frame and cursor key left to go to the previous frame? That works for me 🙂
