  • PP CS6: no keyboard shortcut for jump to next/previous keyframe???

Posted by Nick Natteau on December 29, 2012 at 1:49 am

Coming from Adobe After Effects where such keyboard shortcuts for navigating and adding keyframes exist, I’m not sure why I haven’t found them in Premiere Pro.

But I’m doing a lot of moves on stills and it would save me so much time if Premiere Pro had a keyboard shortcut for “jump to next/previous keyframe”.

If one doesn’t exist in the program, has anyone written some code or work around for doing this on a mac???

The only way I know of to do this is the “snap to” shortcut that you can find within keyboard shortcuts. While I don’t do this myself, I have to imagine it won’t be as elegant as a simple key-mapped “go to”.

Thanks Jan. I think we should all request this as feature to be added in the next release (CS7). It doesn’t make sense that you have such keyboard shortcuts for move to next/previous keyframe in AE but not in PP since both programs use keyframes.

    Thanks for your help.

I must be missing something deep here but what’s wrong with cursor key right to go to the next frame and cursor key left to go to the previous frame? That works for me 🙂

You can jump to previous or next keyframe clicking in white little arrows on both sides of the Create keyframe button (in effects control pannel or in the timeline).
Also, you can navigate to previous or next keyframe in the Effects control pannel timeline by dragging the playhead while pressing the Shift key.

That’s one way but I was looking for an immediate shortcut to jump from one keyframe to another. Since AE has this, I don’t under why PP doesn’t have it. I just filled out the feature request for this.

Thanks Gabriel! I guess that’s the next best thing to a keyboard shortcut. I’ll use that approach then.

I thought I was crazy when I couldn’t find a keyboard shortcut for such a simple and obvious task. I’m glad I finally came across your post.
