Pressing Return does indeed move you to the next item in your Project panel, so you can quickly rename multiple items without using the mouse. Alternatively, pressing Enter (on the numeric keypad) ends the naming process. So all you need to do is use Enter instead of Return.

I recommend the free Mac app VideoSpec for analyzing the properties of a video file. You’ll get much more info than via QT, VLC, etc.

Huh, well that’s a bummer. Thanks for the info! Is there some logic to a 100 GB cap or is that an arbitrary number? It seems odd that a dedicated disk is so highly recommended, but then the software will only use a relatively small amount of space.

May 15, 2012 at 12:16 am in reply to: PP CS6 and Kona Lhi?

I’m also stuck upgrading an LHe. I’m trying to decide between the BMD DeckLink HD Extreme 3D and the Matrox MXO2 LE. AJA seems to have priced themselves out of the equation. I like the BMD card for what appears to be great bang for the buck, but I like the idea of being portable with the Matrox (MBP on-site and MacPro at work). What are y’all gonna do to replace your LHe’s? I don’t want to buy a new computer just yet.

I found out yesterday that my LHe is not going to be supported by CS6. Since I still require analog IO occassionally I’m considering buying a Matrox MXO2 LE, so I can have an external box and be flexible between my Mac Pro and MBP. It seems like great bang for the buck. My other options seem to be the BMD DeckLink Extreme 3D or any of the AJA KONA cards (LHe Plus for example).

The MXO2 LE is basically the same cost as a DL Extreme 3D or an LHe+. Are there any compelling reasons to choose an internal-only option over the MXO2 LE? What about jumping to the $1500 category with an LHi? I know I’m not the only person wondering what to replace old LHe’s with… Thanks in advance.

    Cheers, Brian

I recently did a clean installation of my entire system (early July). Now I’m running current OS, FCS3 and CS5. No problems so far with any of those products. I used the current AJA drivers without the desktop display options. I suggest cloning your system disk and doing a clean install from scratch, if you have the time. You can always revert if it doesn’t go well or an emergency project comes up. AJA also provides excellent tech support if you call them.

Interesting…I just emailed you the project file, it’s tiny. It’s setup to render only the BCC text I need, I’ll composite it into the rest of the scene here if it works for you. FYI, my GFX card is the ATI Radeon HD 4870 running driver 01.00.318. Thanks for your help!

Thanks Peter. I did a test at D1 and it looks fine. I re-rendered at 1080 and it still looks awfully weird. Can I send you the project file for you to test? It’s very small, consisting of only solids and the BCC effect. I’m running CS4 on a Mac. My deliverable was due yesterday. 🙁 Thanks a lot, Brian

Check out Roku’s line of digital signage players, they’re sweet.
