The Rode NTG-1 mic needs 48v phantom power to make it work…
The Olympus LS-10 does NOT have phantom power…To make the NTG-1 mic to work you need 48v phantom power either from an external power supply, Mixer, or a camera that has phantom power.
There is NO other way….
There are other mics on the market that can be operated from internal batteries in the mic and don’t need external phantom power to operate.

If your looking for starter poles for students go fo a Rode pole…. Low cost, well constructed and very ‘usable’

I have used Rycote boom poles on several occasions and have found the lock off mechanism a real pain… yes its better than some but still a pain.
I own many boom poles 4.5m CF, 3m (Rode) Al., K-Tek Klassic K-56 (great CF pole and ideal for travel as it will easily fit into my audio case or backpack…great grip on the treads of the pole) BUT the pole I love the most is one with thumb clip adjustments similar to photographic tripods. Just awesome.
I don’t know the brand but if I could EVER find another one like it I would buy it in a flash. -

“The two XLR outputs are active-balanced connections, each capable of driving long lines. These connections can be used as either balanced or unbalanced. When unbalancing, use pin-2 for (+) and pin-1 for ground; float (leave open) pin-3”Going unbalanced, as you are there might be a short between pins 1 and 3….

What’s the connections on the cable?
Is it wired as a stereo cable or a dual xlr combine cable?
Are the XLR connectors marked as L/R?
What happens when one of the XLR connections is removed from the mixer, what shows in the meter of the D7? -
And you’re asking this on a ‘Professional’ audio forum?
We audio record as a profession not a hobby……You can now probably understand with the failure of your recorder why professionals won’t touch them seriously.
‘Line Level’ are you referring to domestic line level or professional line level…. there is quite a lot of difference.

If the regulations have been set, then obviously some sort of recorder would have been used for creating those regulations, just find out which one.
Regulations will NEVER be made unless the technical infrastructure had been created.

As a rough guide for recording speech, the microphone should be about 500mm from the mouth (approximate)
So if the meeting of 4 people on a 1m square table your mic suggestion would be fine…… BUT if its more than that you are a long way from doing the job properly.Questions that need to be asked….
How many people?
What size table?
What size room?
Is any person going to stand up to talk?
Is there any ‘whiteboard’ or ‘screen’ / computer presentations?
What audio quality is required?
How is the recording to be used, just a record for the file or a release copy to shareholders?
Are you going to ‘mix it’? ‘Auto mix’ it? wild record multi track it?
What level of post production is needed?Before you even think about quoting a price find out what they want, what quality they need / expect.
Another question you need to ask yourself, why are they wanting you to record the meeting? If it is as simple as putting a hand held recorder on the table don’t you think they would already be doing that?….. And if they are doing it they are obviously NOT happy with the results!!!

Do a search on eBay for ‘field mixer’ there are quite a few on there at the moment. (PayPal and postage seems to work well worldwide)
Be careful with the G2 systems they work fine… but will possibly be obsolete & illegal in some countries. With the changes in frequencies you will need to investigate what’s happening in your local area / country…. but don’t buy in the old frequencies it would be a waste of money.
