Smoke has been on the MAC since Dec of 2009. V2012 is the 4th software release for the mac platform. The difference is Smoke is $15K and FCPX is $299.00.
Can you really compare the two?

Interesting workaround. But I’d have to see it to really make a call on of it really worked. In reality then, you would need a camera that is shooting like 8000 pixels for this to work in the real world, and even then, it’s the same angle… so for a sit-com, it wouldn’t work.

H.264 has known issues with gamma shifting. Try a different codec to export to or try h.264 in a mp4 wrapper as opposed to .mov

Is this field based material? Are you seeing field tears in the motion on a progressive computer display? That would be normal.
Can you export as deinterlaced? -
Why do you need to fill up the card before you transfer it to Hard Drive?
We have been using P2 for over 2 years now.We just dump the contents folder into a “project” folder and then reformat the drive.
as long as you put each CONTENTS into a separate folder.. there is no issue and you don’t have clips from different projects to worry about.
