Is the text layer the only thing in the comp?
-
If you are using the Space Bar to start a preview you wont get audio… if you hold Alt or Control (I forget which) and scrub the timeline you should be able to hear audio, and if you use the zero key on the 10-key pad to start a RAM preview you should get audio also.
If the clip plays with audio in QuickTime/MediaPlayer/VLC then it really should have audio after importing into After Effects.
Also if the clip does have audio then you should see the audio properties in the Project tab when you select it.

This is assuming you have created the text using Layer>New>Text to create a text layer. There are other instances of editable text you can bring in, but creating the text in After Effects is the simplest way to be able to maintain change making.

Are you using the Character tools? If you don’t see it, go to Windows and select Character or hit CTRL+6 to open it.
Highlight your text, and use the Character tools to change the font color.
Hope this helps!

We tried MPEG Stream Clip and it can’t repackage or do anything to this video either. We love MPEG Stream Clip, its awesome!
I’m on a PC, but we have MacBookPros onsite as well, and none of them can actually see anything from this video. We’ve tried every tool we know of. Only thing we haven’t done yet is play the file with VLC, and record the output to tape, and reingest. Pretty sure that would work, but what a mess!
I was hoping someone would/could recognize that Welcome screen?
Its not critical that I get this clip to work, we’ve already abandoned it and are pushing for a refund from the stock house, but as this is not the first time I’ve run into this issue so I figured I would come to the best place for solutions again =)

Forgot this:
Windows XP Pro
CS3 Pro video suite (used to be called Production Bundle, not exactly sure what its name is with CS3)
AE plugin ver. 4.50The thing that is confusing is I do much more complex stuff with my Cinema4D and I never have an issue…
I’d much love being able to use the Zaxwerks stuff though as most of my stuff doesn’t need the full power of C4D. 90% of the time its just flying 3d text and zaxwerks is great for that.

You might find something under the WunderTouch Particle Illusion libraries that can help you… Its a decent particle program that comes with tons of preset effects.

I am having a similar issue. AE plugin render problems…
I am rendering to image sequences and when the problem occurs I believe you are seeing exactly what you said: “draft” frames alternating with full frames, or frames that have a very similar look to “draft”. Either way they are not fully renedered frames. Mine will even go as far as dropping entire objects every other frame, or only render every third frame, with the two between completely blank!!
In response to the other post, some of the frames that drop to draft do include reflections, but some of them don’t. So far I’ve only had a problem with text and objects with reflection maps.
I am curious however… there doesn’t appear to be any moving lights or textures or anything, the 3d itself is pretty static. Did you render the entire zoom? Why not render a single frame and use AE scaling to do the zoom effect? It would be different if the darker area that is 1/3 of the way down the text moved with animated lights… of course its also possible you had planned something more, and like me, ran into this problem and abandoned the project for another solution…
I am using 4.50 as well.

The computer I am using is one I have used in the last two weeks while starting my project that I am using the Zax with… It worked fine and rendered much more complex stuff at the beginning of this whole projet, the more I use Zaxwerks the worse its getting.
I am on a HP NX9420 laptop
Core2 Duo 2.0ghz, T7200, 4mb cache
motherboard is a Intel i945PM chipset
X1600 Mobile Radeon
2GB RAM, DDR2 333, PC2-5300When I first started this project I was using both my laptops (identical machines) to render out various parts of different animations and stuff… It wasn’t until I hit this clock animation that I started to run into the non-rendered frame problems.
Thanks for the response!!

I’ve not used it myself, but I have seen it used. It seems to work fairly well. The export is limited, but it seems accurate.
The only time I’ve seen it used was for adding a text layer over a plate like a juiceback or whatever you have.
And as far as I could tell it was also very fast… Our graphics operator on a show site was using it to add/change titles to background plates for quick edits on site. Kind of interesting.
