The solution I found was to switch from USB 3.0 BACK to USB 2.0.

A gross oversimplification but here it is: USB 3.0 was causing the information to reach Avid too quickly. Hope this information helps.

WHAT FINALLY WORKED: Ultimately, I had to switch from USB 3.0 to USB 2.0 and then delete (or deselect) the “data track” after AMA linking. I was working with FS7 footage.

“Interesting, I’ve heard just the opposite; that plugging in the Zoom to the Canon is a bad idea as the Canon sound software/circuitry is pretty crappy.”

I agree with this from personal experience. On a recent project, I compared the audio sent from the Zoom to the Canon, to the audio imported from the Zooms’ SD card. The audio recorded on the Zoom was noticeably better than the audio that had been sent to the Canon.

Just my two-cents, but the audio recorded on the Zoom and imported from the SD card was much “richer” and I think its worth the time to sync.

Thanks Jeff, This worked better than I expected. My audio was recorded using a zoom H4n and a wired Shure Lavaliere. When i sat down to start cutting, I noticed a similar hiss and “hollow” quality to the audio. I chalked it up to recording in a glass encased conference room. Your advice helped tremendously, thanks again.

Hey, This topic is stale, but it is still the number one hit on google for this problem. I had this problem this week, I couldn’t render or export or output to tape through FCP, because I continually hit a “Not Found” or “general error” message whenever I hit a specific spot in the timeline. The trouble spot was always in the same location. When i went through compressor, the export was successful, but there was an audio loop/video error during the trouble spot on the timeline. After doing some research, I tried trashing preferences, disconnecting/reconnecting media, restarting my system and much more; nothing worked.

What finally worked was getting out my back-up drive, and opening the project from the external drive, not the internal that I had been working on. This did the trick. I was able to render, print to tape and export through compressor. This was a pain in the neck and almost cost me a deadline, so I hope this helps a few people out.

The problem was with the render files, i changed the render file location halfway through this project, and thats what screwed me up. If you use your back up drive or media manger, DO NOT USE THE OLD RENDER FILES! RE-RENDER!
