I was just sent this by an Adobe rep. I updated preferences via holding shift while launching. And I think it worked.. at least the first time.. need to export again.

We’re on the case but haven’t found a definitive cause yet. Here’s a couple preliminary things we’re asking users to try if they’re seeing this:

Hold the Shift key down while starting AME. This will reset your preferences and has fixed startup crashes in some instances.
Log out of your CC account: https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/cc-applications-crash-immediately- launch.html
Set your GPU renderer to “Software Only”. Some video cards have issues when GPU is set to “OpenCL” or “CUDA”. Also check if there’s an update available for your video driver
Turn off “Enable Native Premiere Pro sequence import” in your AME prefs.
Post your crash logs if possible.

cool. well I only be using the machine for limited travel experience so maybe it will get me by for basic editing and some light to moderate motion gfx. Went to Cannes this past summer and lugged a 2012 iMac in a road case and it arrived 4 days after I did. got stuck in Dublin. go figure. Wanted to avoid that again ha. thanks for the info!

Thanks David! Now that I have your ear….. Hey can you guys build in a feature where, like in AE, PPro will allow you to select multiple layered clips in a timeline and be able to select all of them and adjust position on all simultaneously without nesting? … or if not, make it so when in a nest or in the main sequence, like in AE, an adjustment layer can be assigned to specific clips in a layer? For example, If I create a nest or work in the main sequence, my adjustment layer effects everything. There are instances when I would like to omit one or two clips in a layer and adjust just the ones I want. – Thanks.

ok.. I did a more extensive search on the Cow and a suggestion was to not use “render at maximum depth” option when encoding. that seems to have helped but not sure why it started happening all of a sudden… still thinking it’s because I have talent on layer 2 over a white matte on layer 1. Masking out portions of the talent over white and repositioning on screen… thinking this might be at the heart of the issue…
