No vector support. So your best bet is to rasterize it in photoshop at FCP’s highest resolution, which I think is 3000×3000. Someone correct me if that’s changed or is wrong.
If you need more than that, that’s what After Effects is for. AE scales vector graphics. Or Motion. I’m not using motion much. I assume it scales vector graphics, but for the price it might not.

Sounds to me like the thing has been physically defective from day one. It happens. You haven’t mentioned trying to return the product or asking them to give your money back. Obviously it’s broke and has been from the start. When something like that happens to me I do not permit it to be repaired. I demand a replacement. If ProMax wouldn’ t offer that, you have right to complain. You deserve to be made right. Ask your self what that is, tell them that’s what you want. If they won’t give that to you, decide if it’s worth pursuing in a legal forum like small claims court. Then post your experience with the company completely truthfully and honestly. It’s not slamming or slander if you simply state the facts. Which it appears you have. But you didn’t state what you asked of them and what they offered.

Running FCP 5 on a dual G4 with QT 7 and Panther 10.3.9 is probably the most stable version of FCP I’ve run since 1.2 on OS9. The idea of upgrading to Tiger doesn’t sound too appealing with the issues folks seem to be having.

It should be better than avid actually because these settings are stored with each individual clip, not just the tape. I always thought it kinda odd that Avid did it by tape. How many times has your entire tape required the same exact proc settings? However, if Kona doesn’t support the sliders (that are greyed out) you’re out of luck. I think cinewave did, and I’m surprised all the pci cards don’t.

Reusing DV tapes isn’t usually very recommended either. Maybe fire, a trash compactor, or a big hole in the ground is your best answer.

DV NTSC. There aren’t any settings. If you see a slider, put it at maximum quality fwiw. But it’s a fixed rate format. There are some settings like 29.97fps and lower field first that you want to make sure is set in AE.

Sounds like your problem is just reinstalling QT 7.
