DVCPro is the same format as DV or DV25. Is there a DV-PAL or AppleDV-PAL setup?

I ran mine with QT 7, 4.5 and 10.3.9 all summer. ?? Didn’t I? I swear I did. Then I upgraded to FCP 5 and it was a smooth upgrade cuz I’d done QT first. Yeah. That was it. 7 works with 4.5.

If compressor doesn’t tell you (I can’t remember) it’s pretty easy to do the math. I just did an 8 minute video for the web at 300kb/sec and it was 19 megs. That’s a pretty good size. I definitely love using H.264. People just need to have QT 7.

  • Energy saver control panel in system preferences.

  • yes. But apparently I didn’t read your first post. I don’t do HDV. I read your own response and that’s what I was replying to. Yes, you’re probably crazy. And yes I did it in the middle of a project. What do people think is going to go wrong in the middle of a project?

Obviously you’ll have to back up your project, and your media should be on another drive. The only risk you’re taking is annoyance. I wouldn’t do it without being prepared to rebuild your system. Which I end up doing about every 8 months or so. Always with a new OS. Backup your important stuff and erase the drive. Install the new OS and all updates. Then start reinstalling your software as needed.

  • Probably. But I did it this summer. Almost exact same specs. Dual 1Ghz MDD G4. 1.75 gig RAM. OS 10.3.9. Still can’t find a reason to spend money on Tiger.

And it’s butt ugly too. I wonder why they don’t actually use the logo with the slate at all?

And FCP will ignore the DPI. All it cares about is pixels.

That’s weird because those two commands do the same in Avid. Or real close. Like +- without the command or something. And I swear I remember the z zooming the timeline. When I added FCP to my skillset years ago I really didn’t have much trouble at all. But I was also using Media100, and before that VideoCube. Avid’s way of doing things was always sort of the odd man out, with all other apps having more in common.
