dropped video
Posted by Rap on October 10, 2005 at 1:51 pmhello everybody
I need your help ASAP
I’m having two problems with the FCP 5
my media is dropped most of the time , sometimes I have to reconnected and sometimes I have recapture it.
i cant play my sequence continuously , so I export it as QT movie then import it back to DV-PAL sequence ( is this the right thing to do ?)the tapes I’m using are DVCPRO so I’m using the easy setup DV50-PAL
thanks in advance

October 10, 2005 at 2:53 pmIn your post you twice said you were only using DV25 (DV-PAL, DVCPro are both DV25 formats). You only mentioned DVCPro50 once at the end.
If the formats are confusing you then yeah, somewhere in there that’s probably your issue. For example, if you’re really using DVCPro50 then your drive speed is probably your issue. What drives are you using? Standard ATA or FW drives are probably not going to cut it.

THE FOLLOWING COMES FROM THE KEN STONE WEBSITE:
“Over 5,000 years ago Confucius wrote: ‘If you are toiling away, you have changed nothing and FCP heads South on you, [starts behaving in strange ways] then it is time to trash your FCP Preferences.’ ”Click the following link for instructions.
https://www.kenstone.net/fcp_homepage/trashing_fcp_prefs.html
A great way to do this is to use “FCP Rescue” a free Apple Script that will Trash the Preferences for you (and restore nearly all of your user settings afterward).
There are versions for FCPro & FCExpress.Download these free Apple Scripts at

This is one FCP tip that has helped in hundreds of “odd” problems.

After you trashed the preferences, you’d likely have to go directly to the Mac file to tell FCP which project to open.
