Well it wasn’t at first, but with the invention of cmd+option+l it became the most productive NLE for audio I’ve ever used. And when they added the audio mixer it got even better.
FCP is definitely faster and easier to manipulate audio than Avid or Media 100 now.

Wow. I’m pretty sure most drives came with 2 in the past and I’ve seen more and more drives come with 3 and 5.

Project should be on your system drive of course. But sounds to me like you’re overtaxing a FW800 drive.

With the myriad of settings I find it odd that nobody mentions the easy setups. For DV, to make sure everything is set up correctly, obviously hook up your deck and make sure it’s on and that’s IT’s input is set to DV. Then launch FCP. Then press ctrl+q. Choose the NTSC DV setup. That’ll get you started.

How about sending your Drive back to LaCie to have it replaced. The warranty should be at least 3 years.

Newest version of FCP allows you to update PS files (and other linked files) on the fly and reconnect automatically. There’s a new check box in prefs “automatically reconnect”.
It’s the way the program should’ve worked since version 1.0.

Or Multi-Cam shoots. There’s a many reasons to load in full tapes.

Newer version of FCP actually restricts position of titles to even numbered scan lines when you drag with mouse. Much improved! I’m noticing all sorts of little tweaks like that now that I’m running the UB version.

Let’s not forget you can also insert or overwrite an edit with a transition included with one press of a button.

Making clips independant simply unlinks them from the clips in the bin. For example you could redig the clip in the bin and it could still be offline in the seq. Making them independent in no way makes them shorter or change their media start/stop points.
To do that, you’d have to media manage the sequence.
