In all fairness that’s just my take on how they should be used. Everybody’s workflow is different. Glad it helped!

But what frame rate did you shoot at? 24M is a data rate setting, which can be used with 60i, 50i, or 24p.

I could be wrong, but I’ll bet you have made a snapshot of your project at some point. And now you’re editing the snapshot. This is precisely why snapshots should not be edited. Creates a mess. Snapshots are set as a standalone version of the timeline with their own compounds and multi cams. They no longer link back to the ones in the browser because, you’d be able to screw up the snapshots by mucking with stuff in the browser. So those compounds and multi cams are hidden, until you hit reveal in browser, because they’d be cluttering up the place needlessly.
Think of snapshots as a backup. A moment in time you can go back to in emergency.
Generally, when i’m versioning my timelines, I send off a copy to the client, then I immediately snapshot it. The snapshot is the backup and I continue working on same timeline and renaming it as v2, v3, etc. When i snapshot it, the v# is baked into the snapshot name as well.

September 25, 2016 at 3:23 am in reply to: Is there any equivalent to media manager for FCP X?It won’t delete or move any media. Only copy or link (in the case of external media). The latter is why you have to hit consolidate. Any external media will just be linked to. Consolidating will COPY that media to the media location (either external or internal) of the new library.

You’ll then need to open the new library and consolidate the footage to ensure it’s not still linked Tont he other library’s external locations.

Because that’s when people stopped making WMVs. 🙂 Can you make an MP4? That’s become the cross platform and web delivery standard.

Ah. When you said opacity slider the only opacity slider I can think of is in the inspector, and that would have meant keyframing. Since I use the handles or dissolves and have never seen this issue (and yes I have to render at times just to playback. If you don’t then your timelines aren’t complicated enough!).
I have seen the occasional item refuse to unrender, but that’s one in 10,000. Used to happen all the time in legacy and I’d just toggle the opacity. In X, if you toggle the opacity it goes back to rendered because X is much smarter than legacy. To avoid clearing the cache I’ve done things like change a setting from 39 to 38.99 for example. Whatever works. But if you’re seeing it on multiple clips then clearing the cache would be the safest bet.

What do you mean by standard opacity slider? Are you keyframing or using the built in fade handles?
