Highlight them all in the timeline, open the inspector and change the role. I think now you can right click as well. Was there another way to apply roles? That’s how I’ve always done it whether it be browser or timeline. I rarely apply roles anywhere but the timeline. Just for final output of discreet audio. I

If it’s a menu item you can assign it in system prefs keyboard shortcuts just for FCP.

The placeholder represents the video background in Final Cut Pro. You can put something therefor testing purposes in motion but it will not be part of the project. It will however show up as a thumbnail in the effect browser in X.

I del with components when the individual channels need to be adjusted separately. I might still adjust the overall audio of a clip with the regular expanded audio. In a way I guess it’s like a mini channels and bus view.

Expanding audio and components are two very different things. I rarely show components.

Yes. But I think we were discussing two different things. I just wanted to apply roles by dragging them to the appropriate lane. Like a track. I have no use for video roles.

Speaking of connections, how come you only see them when a clip is selected now?

Aha! Show and hide audio lanes will toggle them all closed. A PIA if you wanted them open I guess.
