Does Premiere not stop playback when you click in the timeline ruler? I recently had to open a premiere project and was clicking around and for all it’s “nothing stops it” talk, it stops every time I click in the timeline (ruler). It’s pretty annoying since my muscle memory isn’t expecting it after 17 years of FCP not stopping when I do this.

I’d say it’s even faster for those that like to just jump in. With skimming in the browser you can look through enormous amounts of footage in seconds. And since the timeline let’s you drag stuff about without being destructive you don’t need to be so particular about mark in, mark out. X let’s you be more creative IN the timeline. You can log something to death. Sometimes a project just needs to get on with it. Things need to be seen in context with each other.
When I first started using X I got all excited with some interviews we shot. I wasn’t even half way done with all my logging and rejecting and organizing when my wife (the producer) walked in with a rough cut she had put together in a few minutes by physically cutting up the printed transcript and arranging the responses into a legible storyline. There I was still organizing away diligently with my new toy when a piece of paper and scissors was the better tool.

No idea. But 3.1 screwed up a bit of text features somehow. Until 10.3.2 you could only change the line spacing of 1 line at a time. And if you copy and paste bits of text from one title to another, they lose their line spacing. They fixed the former but not the latter. I’m sure your issue falls into the same boat of issues.

Obviously perhaps, but open up Font Book and it’ll tell you if any fonts need to be disabled.

Sounds to me like you double clicked on a transition. You’re aware of that view/mode? The precision editor. You’re describing it pretty well.

As your image is bigger than the frame, I don’t think you’re cropping (or you’re using it in the context of a printed photo) but panning and scanning. In any case, motion can’t magically know the content of your image, so you’d still enlarge it and place it as you wish in FCPX. But you would automate the move left then the move back right with the Motion title effect.
If you’re always scaling and positioning exactly the same, you could do it to the layer in Motion, but I think I’d just leave the pan and scan in FCPX and automate the tedious part, the keyframes, in Motion.
If that doesn’t make sense perhaps I’m misunderstanding and you could share a screen recording.

Yes Hayden you can do it.
You need to create your Motion template as a title. Titles affect backgrounds. In the title effect in Motion you’ll see the background layer. Simply animate it left and right just as you wish. When you apply the title in FCP, it will move the background.

I’d say 95% of the time crashes are related to external hardware. I can personally attest to AJA T-Tap and BMD Ultrastudio Express being the problem for years.
BUT I think it’s Apples problem. BOTH work flawlessly in other apps.

Your logic seems sound to me. I only use one event though, and I usually organize in the finder the way you’re talking first, then drag my folders into the event, automatically creating keyword collections for each folder. Then I generally group keyword collections together in Event folders. A folder called audio might have keyword collections SFX, music, VO and a folder called camera originals would have all kw collections like Cam 1, 5D, or steve’s cam, etc. A GFX folder would have stills, animation, screen grabs…
