This isn’t photoshop. Cropping doesn’t mean cropping in a photo sense. Think of it as a square mask. It doesn’t automatically enlarge. It simply masks.

August 11, 2017 at 2:37 pm in reply to: Colours changing when I upload to Vimeo/YouTubeOk, so 16mb/sec. That should be fine. You’re REC709? I’m wondering if it’s a color profile thing. I do a lot of Home Depot work (can you say orange?) and I’ve never come across this color shift.

Yeah I got talked into copying just the files once. It was a performance mess. They worked but even on a good iMac I was having performance issues. Just optimized them.
What do you do when the camera person has shot something else before you on the same card and they don’t want to hand over the whole structure because it has someone else’s files on it?

[Joe Marler] “If your project uses only a subset of the content in your library and if that’s all you want backed up, you can filter on Used Media, copy only those clips to a separate transfer library, then back up only that. If you have very long clips and you only want to back up used *ranges* within those clips, that requires the 3rd party utility Works4 X. There are some limitations to this utility, so make sure you understand these before using it: https://marquisbroadcast.com/worx4-x.html“
What you’d really want to do here is simply highlight the project and choose File>Copy Project to Library>New Library.
After it creates the library, open up the library prefs pane in the inspector and choose to consolidate the media into the library. If you’ve done the above on the same drive as the original library, then it’ll be instantaneous and won’t take up any additional drive space. Now you have a nice little self contained library with only the media required to play back the project. You can move it onto any drive for archiving, backing up, sharing, etc. without ever having to worry about relinking. And if you prefer to work with external media you can always consolidate it out of the library package later.

July 31, 2017 at 5:34 am in reply to: FCP X IMPORT does not recognize RAID Drive Files & Folders. Only see one directory and displays CLIP #1, # 2, #3 etc.I believe it’s seeing your drive as a camera/card because you have a raw card structure at the root of the drive. THe folder named “private” perhaps?
If that’s the case you need to put that in a directory and it will once again see it as a drive, not a card.

I keep my scopes in exactly the same config and have been unable to recreate the issue on my system. Not have I ever heard of the issue before. Congrats you might be the first!
